Who are the celebrity vapers?

Posted by in All on November 22, 2013 . 0 Comments.

Suddenly, vaping is the new big thing and there are pictures popping up all over the internet of celebrities using electronic cigarettes. Some of them are not celebrities so much as people you may have possibly heard of once or twice but you don’t know what they do – so here is a list of reasonably famous people you don’t need to Google first before recognising them!

UK vapers

Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones must be the surprise vaper of the year – with a long history of drugs and alcohol abuse, it is nice to see him thinking of his health at last. Famous for smoking rather than vaping is June Brown (Dot Cotton from Eastenders) who only vapes when she can't smoke tobacco, but it’s a start. Others seen with electronic cigarettes are Robert Pattinson (Twilight saga) and Chris Moyles – not often they share a sentence, it must be said, but electronic cigarettes do span communities! Kate Moss is apparently a fan – so much so that one image widely disseminated shows her with one in each hand.

US vaping fans

In the US, vaping has taken off in a big way, despite being on the way to a ban in some states. Jonny Depp of course gave the electronic cigarette some serious street cred by smoking one on screen in The Tourist although there is no proof he has given up cigarettes in real life. Charlie Sheen – like Ronnie Wood somewhat famous for a dissolute lifestyle – has taken to vaping permanently having been prevented from smoking during his live tour. Leonardo DiCaprio heads the list for vaping – he is seen in public a lot, often combining cycling and electronic cigarettes. He caused something of a stir when the paparazzi caught him apparently smoking but he had them fooled – he was vaping after all.
